Villa Sonneck, Frankfurt, Hesse

I just finished uploading this Villa for sale, Villa Sonneck, Frankfurt, Hesse

Villa Sonneck, previously named Haus Quincke after the original owner, was built by the famed German architect Herrmann Muthesius, who adopted Francis Bacon’s famous quote “A house is to live in, not to look at” as his own motto. True to this statement and inspired by the building style of English country homes, Muthesius strove to integrate quality characteristics into his houses: comfort, convenience, practicality, sophistication and an elegant constraint. In order to establish a completely new living culture, he concentrated his efforts on the layout of the house and the purpose of each individual room. Villa Sonneck combines all of the qualities that were important to Muthesius. The practicality, ties to nature and functionality of the villa contribute to the exceptional comfort experienced here. The two-storey villa with attic and basement was built between 1907 and 1910 and is one of the landmarked buildings that can be found in the quarter. It was owned privately until 1975, when it was sold to Industriekreditbank AG (IKB AG). The following year, Kleinehandling + Roggy Architecture Company was given the responsibility of remodeling the building. After 11 months of extensive modifications and the creation of new structural elements, including an underground garage, the building was returned to the owner. IKB AG intended to use the villa for administrative purposes, but in 2004 the villa became the private estate of a successful businessman. The new owner initiated extensive construction and renovation work in order to convert the building into a family home once again. The house was completely emptied and then reconstructed for private use, with great attention given to detail and satisfying the highest quality standards. From 2004 to 2007 the owner turned over a new leaf in the villa’s rich history. He undertook extensive restorations to reconstruct many of the villa’s original features as well as to have the house fulfill its original purpose as a family home, in accordance with Muthesius’ wishes. The villa was emptied completely so that not only the contents of the rooms, but also the structural aspects and up-to-date building standards could play a role in the resulting design. Throughout the entire process, special attention was given to detail and creativity. The final product is remarkable: each room is distinctly and uniquely furnished with lush fabrics and exquisite accessories. An extraordinary character and an atmosphere where you can feel at ease result from the mix of modernism and luxury.
